Karina Johnson 2009/10 Danish Senior Ladies Champion Karina will be competing at the 2010 European Championships in Tallin, Estonia Competitor at the 2009 European Championships in Helsinki, Finland and 2009 Junior World Championships in Sophia, Bulgaria. 7th Place at the 2008 ISU Junior Grand Prix in Mexico City! Karina trains daily at KIA.

KIA is proud to introduce the G1 Slideboard System for our "Off - Ice" training program. The system was unveiled recently in PS Magazine and also at the 2009 PSA Conference in Orlando. The low impact slideboard exercises are sport specific and helps increase vertical jump height and core strength. The many additional exercises include the traditional slideboard and spinner attachments.
Dartfish is state-of-the-art video analysis software tool that is fast becoming an industry standard in figure skating coaching. All skaters can benefit from this tool, from recreational to elite competitive! Dartfish allows the coach to capture video with a remote control, DV camera, and a laptop computer. The computer allows the coach to store and analyze huge amounts of video material quickly and give appropriate feedback almost instantly. This speeds the learning process and creates a safer learning environment. It is possible to publish the video to CDROM, DVDROM, or by email. This makes consulting and distance learning a snap. Imagine being able to send your individual program to a coach, technical specialist or judge using this detailed video analysis tool to provide feedback on skills, technical elements, provide the levels of ISJ elements performed, etc. The possibilities are enormous! USFS South Florida Basic Skills Series A series of exciting competitions hosted by South Florida Arenas. Competitors earn points toward a final placement trophy. This years 2010 "Series" calendar and competition package is out with four competitions at Pines Ice Arena, Kendall Ice Arena, Glacier Ice and Snow Arena and Skatezone. Top Kendall Competitors Congratulations to our 2010 South Atlantics Regional Competitors Genevieve Federhofer, Avyane Lee (Intermediate Ladies), Luiz Manella (Intermediate Men), Anastasia Cubas, Katrina Hosein, Amber Martinez, and Tiffany Martinez (Juvenile Ladies).
Luiz Manella qualifies for the 2010 USFS Junior National Championships. Luiz placed 4th in the Intermediate Mens division at the 2010 USFS South Atlantics Regional Figure Skating Championships in Rockville, Maryland.
*2007 PSA Florida State Coaches Workshop Kendall Ice Arena hosted the PSA (Professional Skaters Association) 2007 Florida State Coaches Workshop on July 28, 2007. The guest speaker was ISU International Technical Specialist, Maria McLean. The topics covered the IJS, Spins, Footwork and Spiral Sequences. Kendall Ice Arena is recognized by PSA as a progressive training facility and a member of the "Excellence On Ice" program. All coaches are members of PSA and USFS. They attend seminars and workshops to stay current on rule changes and coaching techniques. |
