2011 World Championships relocated to Moscow Three Time Danish Senior Ladies Champion 2009-11 Competes at the European Championships and Worlds!
Karina Johnson made finals at the 2011 European Championships in Bern, Switzerland placing 17th overall! She also represented Denmark at the 2011 World Championships in Moscow and placed 26th. Worlds were originally scheduled for Tokyo, Japan, but were rescheduled because of the earthquake and tsunami. She trains daily at KIA.

"Off Ice" Training “Off-Ice” Jump and Conditioning. The class is for advanced skaters working on axels and double jumps. This class is designed to be sport specific to help develop the skater for competitive figure skating. The focus will be to improve the fitness level of competitive skaters helping them to achieve their figure skating goals. A strong body core is needed to perform difficult jumps and spins. This class includes aerobic and anaerobic training, agility , strength, rotational jump technique, 4D Skating Slideboard, spinner and flexibility exercises. Skaters must have athletic footwear. Tuesday evening 7:00 to 7:45pm Preliminary Freeskate and up. Power and Edge Class These workshop classes cover Moves in the field, edgework and the development of power and conditioning. Prerequisite: Minimum Pre Pre Freeskating and Coaches approval Monday evening 6:45 to 7:15pm Friday evening 5:15pm Elite Power and Edge Class This advanced workshop class covers higher moves in the field, edgework and the development of power and conditioning. Prerequisite: Juvenile Freeskate or Intermediate Moves Wednesday evening 6:15 to 6:45pm
KIA is proud to introduce the 4D Skating "Slideboard" System for our "Off - Ice" training program. The system was unveiled recently in PS Magazine and also at the 2009 PSA Conference in Orlando. The low impact slideboard exercises are sport specific and helps increase vertical jump height and core strength. The many additional exercises include the traditional slideboard and spinner attachments.
Dartfish is state-of-the-art video analysis software tool that is fast becoming an industry standard in figure skating coaching. All skaters can benefit from this tool, from recreational to elite competitive! Dartfish allows the coach to capture video with a remote control, DV camera, and a laptop computer. The computer allows the coach to store and analyze huge amounts of video material quickly and give appropriate feedback almost instantly. This speeds the learning process and creates a safer learning environment. It is possible to publish the video to CDROM, DVDROM, or by email. This makes consulting and distance learning a snap. Imagine being able to send your individual program to a coach, technical specialist or judge using this detailed video analysis tool to provide feedback on skills, technical elements, provide the levels of ISJ elements performed, etc. The possibilities are enormous!
